Spontaneous weekend trip!

I haven’t written in awhile. Things have been crazy busy!! I’m about to finish this semester of class and I have two more to go. My next semester of school is going to be my hardest. I not only have to classes to take but I am going to try to CLEP two classes! I’m going to have to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!! I will be sooo happy once I finally get this degree!

Friday on my way home from work my husband text me to talk about the trip he was going to take to Indianapolis to stay at his mom’s for the weekend so he could go see he’s kid’s first baseball game. I hadn't planned on going because I had stuff to take care and we were in a little tiff. I knew this meant a lot to him and I could tell he was really disappointed I wasn't going so I called his mom up and asked her if she could get me on a flight. She works for the airport so Jason has flight benefits and she gives me buddy passes. She said I could get on but I had to get to the airport ASAP! I had 20mins from the time I got off the bus that takes me to my car to the time I needed to be at the airport! I didn’t even have time to pack a bag! I hauled ass on an almost empty tank of gas and almost got pulled over TWICE for speeding! Finally I made it and me and Jason rushed to get past security! By 5:30pm we were in air! I was amazed at myself for being so spontaneous! All I had was the clothes I was wearing and my purse! His mom assured me I could borrow her clothes and everything else I could buy!

We got to Indy around 8:30ish so his mom decided to take us to dinner. We went to this great little bar called Sahm’s. This place was cool because their menu was different then most other places especially for a bar! The food was fabulous (except for the margarita) after that we went back to his mom’s place and pretty much passed out.

We had to be up by 6:30 the next morning to make the 2 ½ hour drive to Kentucky to see Jason’s kids. Of course we got lost on the way and it took us until 11am to get there!! Unfortunately that meant we had just missed Bell’s soccer game but Neiko’s was suppose to just be starting. Come to find out however they pushed his game back to 1pm. This worked out pretty well. We were able to watch Neiko practice for awhile and Jason even got to throw the ball around with him!

I have to tell you, I saw Isabella first and called her over to me. She gave me a surprised look and jumped in my arms. I was talking to her about her game and as I did I turned so she could see her dad. I guess she didn’t realize that if I was there that meant Jason would be there also. As soon as I pointed him out to her she jumped down and ran through the field calling “Daddy, daddy, daddy!!” it was like a scene from a movie! You know the one where two people run slow motion thought a field to each other’s arms! So stinking sweet!! That man is an AMAZING father!!!

After a delay from the previous game they were finally ready to start around 1:45pm!! They lost horribly but nothing could be better than getting to spend time with the kids!!

We didn’t get to stay long because we were both worn out from the flying (and playing kickball the night before) so we headed back to his mom’s house not knowing if we were going to get lost again.

Thankfully we didn’t and we ended up back in Indianapolis with enough time to go see Jason’s nephew who is in the hospital. The poor kid has been in and out since he was born. He has a lot of defects and needs heart surgery. He was born the day after our wedding and this was our first time seeing him!! He is soo cute!!! I just wanted to cuddle him!! I didn’t because he was hooked up to all these wires and tubes and it’s been some time since I’ve held a little one.

Look at that sweet face!!!

He looks sooo sleepy

After the hospital Jason’s mom took us to a cute little Greek restaurant near downtown. The food was excellent and I really enjoyed seeing downtown. We hope to go back soon so we can explore the town a little more. The houses and the architect of the buildings is really beautiful. Since it was an impromptu trip I was without my camera the whole time : (

We went to bed early again so we could be up at 5:30 to get back to the airport. Thankfully we made all of our flights and were back in Charleston by 11am!! Since we still had the whole day (and was able to nap on the plane) we decided to go downtown Charleston to walk the Market! The air show was this weekend so downtown was PACKED!! I love walking the market. It’s so neat to see all the different things people are able to make!! I bought a few things and my wonderful husband ended up buying me a pair of D & G sunglasses!!! SCORE!!!

All in all it was a wonderful weekend and exactly what we needed! I’m glad I didn’t let my instinct to plan get in the way of having a great time! This coming weekend is our one year anniversary! I can’t believe its been a year already!! I can’t say what we might be getting into…ill save it for another blog ;-)

Til then

God Bless

Florida

Florida
Jason and I left work early Friday so we could drive the 6 hours to Orlando, Florida to the hotel we got through our time share. We left at 3pm and got there around 8:30pm (5 ½ hours not bad!!) When we checked in I was in awe!! The hotel wasn’t just a hotel but a resort!! I was plesantly surprised when we got to our room and saw how nice it was. I like our timeshare and all, but some of the places we have stayed are not exactly top notch. They are all nice but some are in need of a little renovation. Not this place!!!

We ended up in a two bedroom condo. I know…why two bedrooms when there was just two of us? No we didn’t sleep in separate rooms. They only had a two bedroom available when we booked the reservation and since it’s through the timeshare we only paid $69 a night for the room, thats half price!!!! Yes $69 for a two bedroom, two bathroom, living room, kitchen, balcony, the place even had a washer and dryer AND a Jacuzzi tub!!! We paid just as much for a one bedroom for one night in West Ashley that wasn’t as nice on Valentines Day!! I’m pretty pleased with the timeshare at the moment…can ya tell?

Anyway…by the time we got to the room and settled it was about 9pm so we decided to head to the club house to get some grub. The club house was closing at 10pm but they had a guy playing music (he was pretty dang good) and we were able to order some of the best nachos I have ever had!!!

Of course Jason made a friend at the bar. He is a social butterfly, although sometimes it’s hard to tell. So they get to talking and we start doing shots, by the time we got back to the room I was pretty lit and passed out shortly after!!!

The next morning we took our time getting up and decided to go explore a little. The plan orignally was to go to one of the attractions in Orlando but it was raining when we got up. We found an Premium outlet mall while hunting down a shirt for Jason and ended up spending a couple of hours there. They had EVERYTHING. Polo, DKNY, Coach, Puma, Movado and that’s just to name a very few. Needless to say we both came home with a few things!!!

With our shopping done, it was time to head to Tampa to get the tickets for the concert later that night. We went ahead and got ready because Tampa is an hour away from Orlando. I found general admission floor tickets on craigslist so we had to meet the guy whenever he was ready. This was around 2pm. By the time we got the tickets we had 5 hours to kill before the concert started

We were driving around Ybor City, which is a small town I had never heard of in Tampa, when we noticed one of the roads was blocked off. We had nothing better to do so we got a little closer and realized there was a street festival going on.

We parked and ended up right in the middle of Fiesta Day!! This was a pleasant surprise!!! Fiesta Day is a tribute to the Cuban, African Cuban, German, Italian, Jewish and Spanish immigrants that came to Ybor City in the late 1800's. We walked around for awhile and decided to eat at a little Columbian place we passed while trying to park for the festival. From the outside this place looked like a hole in the wall (which usually ends up being the best places) but as soon we walked in we realized we were wrong.

We were in Columbia Restaurant. The original Columbia Restaurant is the oldest Spanish restaurant in the United States and one of the largest (with 1,700 seats in 15 dining rooms taking up 52,000 ft²) in the world. Founded in 1905 in Ybor City, Tampa, Florida, the landmark is still owned by the Hernandez/Gonzmart family and serves Cuban cuisine.

It was BEAUTIFUL inside!! The place was crowded and they also had seating blocked off in another dinning room for a wedding. There was a 30 minute wait which went by super fast at the bar. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. I had the 1905 salad that they make with their own garlic dressing and the Spanish bean soup. Jason had the chicken with rice, bean and plantains, neither one of us had ever had plantains before and they were delicious!!!

Finally it was time for the concert. Ill post another blog with some pics on that maybe tomorrow.

10 Months after we were married I finally found our honeymoon pictures. I misplaced the camera as soon as we got home from our honeymoon but I wasn’t overly concerned because I ALWAYS lose everything. I would lose my head if it wasn’t attached… so I figured it would show up sooner or later…..Well that day has finally arrived!!!

This morning I woke up and was getting ready for work and noticed the camera sitting on the counter. We were in Florida all weekend and were really tired when we finally made it home yesterday, but im still pretty sure I would have noticed if it was sitting there last night. I don’t care how it got there I am just so thankful it has been found!!! As soon as I left my house this morning stopped by the gas station for some batteries so I can load them…here are a few of the good ones!!! The rest I will post on facebook tomorrow.

On a less happy note….I finally got the results from the Pap smear. Friday I finally called to ask why I hadn’t heard anything and was told that the results had come in they just hadn’t bothered to call!!! WTF!!! I have been biting my nails for TWO weeks and they have had the results half this time!!! Ugh!! It came back abnormal again but I think they didn’t call because it’s too soon to do anything. I guess im still healing from the last procedure so they can’t do any biopsies right now. I have had irregular pap smears before so im not too worried….BUT this is how everything started when I found out I had the cancer in the first place. Having an abnormal pap doesn’t necessarily mean I still have cancer but it doesn’t exactly make me feel confident that everything is cool yet. I’m just going to have to wait till my next appointment with the specialist to see what she has to say….I’m keeping my fingers crossed and saying my prayers!!

I’m too excited over the honeymoon pics to write about Florida this weekend…Ill try to get on it tomorrow…I didn’t get to take many pics but I do have a few, so ill try to get a few up!

Here’s a few from the honeymoon!!

This is one of my Favorites!!
We were at the luau and this was a little light house right behind us!

Sunset on the boat the first night we were there

This is another one of my favorites!! It's Jason's silhouette off of the back of the boat! It was beautiful there!!!

Bear with me! I have just been introduced to the wonderful world of blog backgrounds, so needless to say i have to play around a little before i find the right background for me!!

Im still waiting on the results from the pap smear!! They told me it was only going to take a week and it has been over two now!!! Im trying not to get nervous....no news is good news right??? But i am offically off of my depo (hooray!!) so it would be nice to get the all clear before i get knocked up!!

We leave tomorrow to go to Tampa, Florida! Im extremely excited about that! We get to stay til sunday! Usually when we go to a show its just a day trip and we never get to see anything else while we're there. We will be staying in Orlando so im not sure if our activities will be centered there or in Tampa...we'll see!!!
Ill try to take LOTS of pics!!!

February

February

This month has been pretty good so far. Taylor started her drum lessons and so far I am impressed! I am so excited that she has found a musical instrument that she enjoys and thankfully it stays in the garage!!! She has only had a few lessons and already she is catching on quick!! Every other week her instructor comes to the house and teaches her out of a book. I think if she keeps up with it she will be in a famous band one day…..she really does have that kind of talent!!!

Valentine’s was good. Jason and I stayed Saturday night at a hotel in West Ashley. Another couple we knew stayed at the same hotel, but we were a little late getting started so we never actually hung out with them. We ended up going to the Music Farm to see the band Crowfield? Neither of us had heard of them but we had some friends up there and it was only $12 to get in. We ended up enjoying the music and having a good time! After that we met up with another set of friends that were downtown on the market. We met them at Henry’s and while we were sitting there we noticed everyone was kind of staring and whispering about some guy about 10 feet away from us. I asked my friend and she said it was Ben Roethlisberger. I was like yeah, right. But then he stood up! The guy was HUGE!!! Jason doesn’t fall over any celebs so we ended up leaving after our drinks (this was right at closing time) but my girlfriend stayed and got pictures with him! The funny thing is our friend that also stayed at the hotel is the BIGGEST BEN fan!! But since she ended up ditching us she missed it!!! We are both still rubbing that one in her face!!! Oh and the room we stayed in had a humungous Jacuzzi tub! We were in Heaven!!! We are seriously thinking of taking out our tub at home and replacing it with a jet tub!!!

Next weekend we are planning a trip to Tampa, FL. Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, and Flyleaf are all playing there!!! I am soooooooo stinking excited!!!! One of the best concerts I have ever seen was when me and my friend Aaron went to see Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin and Staind!! It doesn’t hurt that the lead singers from Three days Grace and Breaking Benjamin are both HOTT (in a grunge kind of way!)

I am sooo thankful to have a husband that enjoys doing the same things I like. Just looking at him you wouldn’t think he would be attending any rock shows, but it was his idea!!! We are getting our room through our timeshare so it’s super cheap. Below is a picture of the hotel! And the best part? The room has a Jacuzzi tub!!! I have never been to Tampa and we are planning on leaving Friday and coming back on Sunday so we will have time to sightsee!! I can’t wait!!!

what a weekend

So much has been going on!!

Last Wed. I got a txt from my husband saying animal control had Capone. I was a little worried but just assumed he had gotten out somehow. After playing phone tag, I finally got a call from the officer and she informed me Capone had been hit by a car. I started bawling on the phone. This is my baby! Thankfully he was micro chipped so all they had to do was scan him and my information came up. I rushed to the SPCA to pick him up, I was so worried about what he was going to look like. He came limping out the cage but other than that and a scratch on in front paw he didn’t look too bad. I took him straight his vet where they did x-rays and thankfully his leg wasn’t broken. The bad news was he tore the ligaments in his back left knee which is why he was limping. They told me he needed surgery and after calling around I found a place to take him. When I arrived they told me that I was not on the schedule. I was furious! They then said that they had me down for the next week. I was really upset I had taken a whole day off for his surgery and they didn’t even have him scheduled!!! I think they knew how mad I was and after giving me the “what do you want me to do about it" attitude they finally said they would try to work him in. When I got back to see the doctor, I realized they don’t even do the surgery that I had requested. I guess the person I talked to on the phone didn’t know what I was saying and just said ‘yeah, we do that’.

Because I had taken the whole day off to have Capone fixed I decided to go with the surgery that they did do, which is where they go in and temporary stabilize his knee joint. They said they would hold him there and try to fit him into the surgery schedule. I thought that this was better than nothing and left him there, hoping that when I came back he would be fixed. They called me later and asked me to come pick Capone up.

When I got there the doctor commented that he thought he saw a fracture on the outside x-rays I brought in with us. He pointed to the spot he thought was a fracture. I looked at him and explained that I am an x-ray tech and while I do x-rays on humans, I imagine dogs have very similar anatomy. I told him the area he thought was a fracture looked like a joint space to me. He said he needed more x-rays and took another one. He came back in and said “you’re right, It was a joint space” I was stunned!! This man just charged me $95 for an x-ray that wasn’t even needed because he didn’t know what a joint space looks like!!! I got out of there as fast as I could!! After doing a ton of research I have decided we are going to go the conventional non-surgery route. Capone’s body will heal itself and if it doesn’t then we will consider surgery then. The temporary stabilization they were going to put in was only going to hold until his body made scare tissue to make up for the torn ligaments. His body will do this on its own without surgery and for now I feel this is our best choice.

On to the happier stuff:

Jason told me he had a surprise for me and that I needed to make sure I wasn’t on call last weekend. I was able to get someone to take the call for me and was super excited for whatever he had planned. (Jason’s not usually the surprise kind of guy, he can’t help but spill the beans anytime he has a surprise) Unfortunaly he  also told one of our mutual friends who let the cat outta the bag. He planned on taking me to Savannah on a casino boat and then to the Melting Pot, which Charleston no longer has. I was a little bummed that the surprised was ruined but then decided that it was still a surprise, I just found out early.

The next morning it was raining like crazy but we left for Savannah. We got there in plenty of time and got on the boat. I have only been gambling twice. Once for my 21st birthday while in New Orleans, that time i stuck with the slots, and once when Jason took me to Atlantic City. Both times I had no idea what I was doing. I mean I know how to play black jack and Texas hold'em but when it came to craps I was clueless.
It takes an hour after the boat leaves to get out far enough to start gambling but once it did I watched my baby in action. He tried to explain the Craps table to me but it took about an hour or so of just watching and placing the min. bet for me to finally catch on. I also had a wicked headache and had to constantly take meds. but I was determined not to let that ruin our time. We would win money and then lose it. Win then lose. It was so much fun!! Finally we were coming back in and they were about to close the tables back down, when Jason made one last bet that won back most of what we had lost for the day! I was so excited!! We didn’t come up but we didn’t lose either!!! All in all it was super fun!!

We left the boat and went straight to the Melting Pot. I was a little nervous because my husband is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. He ordered the filet and I ordered filet, chicken, and shrimp. I was worried he wouldn’t have enough to eat or would hate the fact that he had to constantly cook the food but when we left he said he was stuffed and it was good!!! It wasn’t his favorite place in the world but he said he would go back!!! I thought it was wonderful and even better than the Foundly Yours restaurant we have here in Charleston.

We decided not to stay in Savannah that night because we wanted to get up early to go to the Oyster roast.
On the way back home we decided to go to a movie with some friends of ours.
They were going to see Avatar and we both wanted to see it.
We ended up going to the new IMAX in West Ashley. My brother and some other friends were supposed to meet us but as they were standing in line for tickets the movie sold out! This movie has been out for at least a month and is still selling out!!
The 3D was amazing and the story line was awesome!!! I’m so glad we went! I could not have asked for a better day spent with my husband!! He was so thoughtful!!!

The next day we got up early for the Oyster Festival which was at Boone Hall. We were smart enough to hit up the store first for some rain boots! Thank goodness we did! It was like a mud pit out there!!!
It wasn’t too cold with the sun out and we met up with a bunch of our friends!!
The oysters were delicious and the beer was good and cold!!
I lost my second phone to the port-o-potty (gross), but it was the old one so i wasnt too upset about it.
On the way out we went the back way and saw about 10 cars which had bogged down and a tractor was going around getting people out.
We got stuck for about 2 mins before we pushed ourselves out. Jason got behind the wheel and slung the car though the mud pit as people cheered us on! He got us out like we were in a 4 wheeler!!!

Today one of Jason's best friends from Jersey is coming into town so its sure to be an exciting weekend! Im pretty excited. All of Jason's friends are cool and this one is just nuts!
