Pink Hair for Hope!!

Shame on me...the month is half over and I'm JUST getting around to posting this.
Needless to say I have been SUPER busy.
Some of my mother-in-law's friends threw a benefit ride this past weekend to help raise money so of course I went and spent all day with them trying to help. They raised over $2000, which I think is awesome considering the accident didnt happen here.
This weekend one of mine and Jason's friends are getting married and Jason is in the wedding, so we'll be busy all this weekend.
It seems like there is always something going on and always somthing to do!!
Anyhoooo....
As everyone already knows, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
The facts:
*1/3 Mammography has helped reduce breast cancer mortality in the U.S. by nearly 1/3 since 1990.
*The ten-year risk for breast cancer in a 40 year old woman is 1 in 69.
*1 in 5 breast cancers occur in women aged 40-49.

*Of all the years of life saved by mammography, 40% are for women in their 40s.

*3/4 of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease and are not considered high risk.

*Even for women 50+, skipping a mammogram every other year would miss up to 30% of cancers.

For every 1,000 women who have a screening mammogram:
• 100
are recalled to get more mammography or ultrasound images
• 20
are recommended for a needle biopsy• 5

Pink Hair For Hope

SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions Joins The Fight Against Breast Cancer with Pink Extensions!
The color pink has become almost synonymous with showing support for breast cancer awareness. Now women can wear their support 24 / 7!!  Women can donate $10 or more to The National Breast Cancer Foundation and receive a FREE Pink hair extension graft.
The extension attaches to the natural hair very close to the scalp with 100% keratin, so there is virtually no damage to the natural hair once the extension is removed.

I think this is awesome and I love that the $10 is donated to the Breast Cancer Fondation!! I had an appointment for both Taylor and I to go and have one pink extension put in our hair but the appointment was for last Saturday, the same day as my mother-in-law's event. I ended up having to cancel the hair appoinmtent because the event went WAY over and I felt obligated to stay :  (   soooo Im hoping to reschedule but Stella Nova is one of the few places in Charleston that do it and they are extremely busy afternoons and weekends when im free. We'll see.
are diagnosed with breast cancer
